A Chat With Great People
On Friday, I had the joy of meeting with some awesome folks. Over coffee we talked about social media, technology and real estate…3 of my favorite subjects! Now, who did I have the joy of sharing that conversation? 3 awesome people!
Carlos Gil is new to the Bay Area (currently rocking social media at LinkedIn). He brought his parents, who are excellent real estate agents from Florida. A little while back, Carlos and I first connected on Twitter, which facilitated conversation back and forth since then. His parents, Carlos and Millie Gil run a successful real estate business where you can learn more at:
Throughout the time we spent together, we engaged in some fantastic conversation learning about one another, and discussing the real estate business.
A highlight of the conversation was about geographic farming, and open houses in the real estate realm. These are two activities our team does a lot of, and it was great to hear praise from the Gils for our efforts. As many of you know, real estate is a people business. Face to face interactions and building relationships with others are pillars of the real estate industry. I know that if I were looking to buy or sell a home, I need to have great in-person interactions with agents to determine who I can trust. It was great to engage with others in the industry that feel the same way! We mustn’t get too caught up in the shiny new gadgets out there, we have to remember that the real estate business is built on serving the needs of others in the best way possible.
Carlos and I exchanged thoughts on how live-streaming apps like Periscope and Meerkat could be beneficial to the real estate industry. This is something that I really hope to incorporate as soon as possible, as I believe it will help create memorable experiences for others. Whether it is live-streaming an open house event, or even hosting a “Real Estate Q&A” in real time. I think it could be fun as well for community events, or highlighting neighborhoods in the area.
What do you think? Would watching live video of something related to our local community or real estate be of interest to you?
The new Coffee Shop in downtown Walnut Creek was a great host of this connection. This place was absolutely buzzing and had a great vibe from the staff and patrons. Quick shout out to Jason at Fidelity National Title! Was great to bump into him there as well!
I was glad to finally get the Coffee Shop in Walnut Creek to check it out. By the way, the mint iced coffee is delicious!
I had to share with you this experience simply because it was such a positive endeavor with genuine people. If you, or someone you know has real estate needs in Florida let me know. I will be happy to put you in touch with the Gils, who clearly understand what it means to be authentic real estate professionals and serve others.
