Only taking a momentary pause if something catches our attention. It’s that stimulation you want the photos of your home to cause. Whether people are searching listings here on SteveQuanstromGroup.com, or on Zillow or wherever… The first thing they look at is the photo of the home. If their interest isn’t caught, they move on.
The WOW! factor is incredibly important. When you are selling your home, the goal is to get the best sale possible. To achieve your goals, it really becomes a numbers game. The more people that the home is exposed to means more people will have interest. The more people that have interest translates to more potential offers. High quality photos of your home are crucial. Generally, your real estate agent walking through your home with their digital camera or two-year-old iPhone aren’t going to get the job done. Fantastic Question! There are some key basics that will help create some great listing photos. Whether you are local and working with us, or another agent you will have help. As I mentioned above, we always bring in a professional photographer.
Here are 6 tips for how you can prepare your home for photos:
- Declutter! Minimize clutter in the rooms of your home. Try to minimize the amount of clutter on any shelves as well.
- Reposition any furniture (whether yours or staged) to help showcase the “space” of the rooms. Accentuate the amount of space and room your home offers.
- Remove window screens and clean the windows. You want to get as much natural light in while photos are being taken. Light and bright!
- Before photos are taken, turn on lights all throughout the home. In living rooms, side table lamps are great. Your photographer may adjust, but likely he/she will appreciate the lights being on.
- Stage the dining/eating tables. A stager can help with this, but it presents a nice vision for home buyers.
- Make sure your front and back yards are presentable. If you have lawns, healthy and green are the way to go! Clear out clutter here as well.
Those are 6 tips that can help lead your way to amazing photos of your home. Remember that clutter should be removed, and the rooms should all look as light and bright as possible!
